Position Summary
The Power Industrial Truck (PIT) Operator I Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of powered industrial equipment to move, stage, and support material flow throughout the building. This role primarily supports shipping and material handling activities while maintaining flexibility to assist other operational areas as needed.
The PIT I Operator plays a key role in maintaining safety, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
· Safely operate PIT equipment (forklift, pallet jack, reach truck, or other approved equipment) in accordance with company safety standards.
· Move, stage, and position pallets, cartons, and freight to support daily operational needs and shipping dock activities.
· Assist with material movement throughout the facility to support operational flow and department productivity.
· Support shipping operations by staging outbound freight accurately and on time.
· Perform required equipment inspections and immediately report safety or mechanical concerns.
· Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with safety and operational policies.
· Follow all PIT safety guidelines, training requirements, and standard operating procedures.
· Support other departments as needed based on operational volume and business priorities.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work status, issues, or operational needs.
· Demonstrate flexibility and a team-first mindset while supporting overall distribution center operations.
Required Qualifications
· PIT certification or ability to become PIT certified.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
· Prior experience operating PIT equipment in a warehouse or distribution environment.
· Experience supporting shipping or material handling operations preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift, carry, and move items—often 30–50 lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier depending on the role.
· Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods, sometimes for an entire shift.
· Repetitive motions, such as reaching, pulling, pushing, and manual handling of products.
· Operating or working around machinery and equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyor systems (with appropriate training).
· Tolerating varying environmental conditions, like hot, cold, or noisy warehouse spaces.
