About the role –
The Central Sanctions Unit (CSU) team in New York is responsible for the screening of Lloyds Bank, North America’s customer base and payment transactions and the investigation of alerts with respect to screening against sanctioned countries, entities, individuals and PEPs. There is a similar set of responsibilities related to adverse media screening. Other responsibilities include the screening of select non-automated transactions and newly on-boarded relationships; FinCEN 314(a) processing; sanctions list update review & testing; producing daily/monthly MI and; related systems development project work.
The opportunity –
The AVP is responsible to ensure the efficient flow and timely completion of all activities within CSU and support the Manager as needed. AVP ensures Sanctions and PEP case investigations comply with the standard of ‘regulator ready’ rationales and provide reviews of supplemental evidence to support outcome.
Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing –
· Review/sign-off of sanctions/PEP case alerts, applying applicable fuzzy logic and established case investigation standards, produced from:
· Customer screening.
· Payment/SWIFT message screening
· Provide back fill support for other team members during absences and scheduled time off.
· Daily screening reconciliation review/sign-off
· Manage Negative News alerts and administration, review/sign-off of news alert case investigations.
· Manage 314(a) processing and review/sign-off of alerts.
· Conduct manual screening of non-automated transactions (i.e. L/Cs, check deposits, etc.)
· Manage and support Team members to ensure all case investigations are resolved to acceptable standards in accordance with group policies and in an accurate and timely manner.
· Conduct business assurance testing of Sanctions / PEP list updates for introduction into production systems.
· Lead and support project / system testing work (which requires some weekend work).
· Manage interactions with Letter of Credit, Loan Operations, Payments Office and Compliance teams when needed.
· Create monthly and ad-hoc MI.
· Responsible for understanding and remaining current with Group policies and standards that apply to job role, and ensure team members are trained and informed of any changes.
· Successful completion of all mandatory trainings/reading/workshop
· Act as subject matter expert for all sanctions related activities
· Lead and support a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Qualifications
What you’ll bring –
Requirements:
· Familiarity with Fircosoft screening and case management tools a plus.
· Knowledge of the OFAC SDN list and purpose (knowledge of HMT sanctions a plus).
· 3+ years of experience in performing Sanctions / PEP investigations with the ability to produce regulatory ready rationales with supporting evidence.
· General knowledge of US PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering legislation and OFAC regulations.
· Experience in performing Adverse Media investigations and case decisions.
· Knowledge of KYC / CIP.
· An understanding of SWIFT message types and formatting.
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including MS Word and Excel.
