Specialist, Global Accounting - Close

Role Summary

Pfizer's Controllers Global Accounting Close CoE organization delivers best-in-class accounting, finance and compliance operations globally for the Pfizer enterprise.

The Global Close Specialist is responsible for the successful execution of close-related tasks for legal entities across the globe, with the intent of delivering an accurate and timely financial close. The role will involve supporting key submission processes of Flash Sales, Trial Balance and Statement of Cash Flow (SOCF) ledgers into FCCS, both timely and accurately. This role will require working independently, collaborating with global business partners and working closely with Global Accounting teams responsible for monthly & quarterly close activities impacting critical financial reporting areas (e.g. manual journal entries, analysis, master data resolution, metrics, etc.). Key business partners include: BioPharma Finance, PGS Finance, Global Finance & Operations, Controllers, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Treasury & Intercompany, Enabling Finance, HR, Global Benefits, Statutory, Payroll, Corporate Services, Counsel Governance, Tax Operations, Enterprise Systems CORE Services, External Service Providers, S&ES Sourcing & Operations, Controls Optimization, Risk Management & Compliance,  FP&A, Transformation & Project Management, Digital, Internal & External Auditors. The position will support the implementation of global in-scope projects, including Digital and optimization activities.

Role Responsibilities

• Responsible for the successful execution of close-related Global Accounting tasks to ensure proper and timely submission of global legal entity trial balances into FCCS

• Track and monitor completion of close tasks to ensure on-time submissions

• Coordinate and perform error clearing and root-cause analysis / determine and implement corrective action

• Research differences between ledgers and FCCS

• Oversee the submission of Trial Balance and Flash sales data into FCCS and work with global business partners to resolve issues.

• Collaborate with Core Ops and serve as primary Global Accounting contact for global topside journal entry process.

• Own SAP global foreign exchange revaluation process including analysis, issue resolution and system updates.

• Prepare and distribute global close communications.

• Support global close process tools including MyJournals MJE tool.

• Maintain complete and accurate work instructions and SOX related internal control documentation; Support Internal and External audits and SOX compliance initiatives

• Ensure strong commitment to the control environment through training and review to meet all control and compliance requirements.

• Participate in Global Accounting global initiatives as a subject matter expert, including transformational projects.

• Ensure activities are performed to a high standard of operational excellence, deadlines are met, and adhere to defined Controllers Global Accounting process and control requirements

• Engage directly with all business partners on complex activities and deliverables; maintain effective relationships with business partners

• Develop technical and business skills, ensuring effective and efficient use of time and competencies
•Understand the functionality, interfaces and interdependencies of Pfizer’s financial processes and systems

Qualifications, Relevant Experience & Skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master's Degree preferred, CPA or equivalent (ACCA, CIMA) preferred
• Minimum of 2-5+ years of technical accounting required
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Practical experience of US GAAP and Statutory Accounting/Experience of other GAAPs required
• Advanced SAP & FCCS (Oracle’s Financial Consolidation and Close cloud solution) experience strongly preferred
• International experience in emerging markets seen as a plus
• English proficiency required

• Must possess excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills
• Excellent business acumen to develop effective strategic business partnership with key stakeholders

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $79,700.00 to $132,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
