Plantwide Maintenance Technician HVAC 3rd shift

What you’ll do

Production equipment maintenance

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and power-transmission systems.
• Diagnose equipment problems using hydraulic and pneumatic gauges, VOM meters, calibration instruments, voltage and current meters, and other testing equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery.
• Investigate equipment failures and identify effective, lasting solutions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, welders, and precision measuring equipment safely.
• Fabricate, modify, and install mechanical components and production equipment as needed.
• Assist with equipment testing, debugging, and startup.

Electrical diagnostics and repair

• Perform electrical testing and maintenance repairs within the scope of training, authorization, and applicable safety requirements.
• Use electrical meters and diagnostic instruments to identify equipment issues.
• Support troubleshooting of electrically controlled production equipment.
• Escalate issues requiring specialized electrical, controls, or engineering support.

Installation and improvement projects

• Plan and support the installation of new production equipment.
• Assist with equipment upgrades and process improvements.
• Work with equipment suppliers and vendors onsite and by phone to resolve maintenance issues.
• Recommend improvements that support equipment reliability, safety, quality, and productivity.

Facility systems

• Maintain and service facility mechanical systems, including applicable building control systems, compressors, HVAC units, and low-pressure steam boiler equipment.
• Coordinate with management or qualified vendors when specialized service or licensing is required.

Documentation and teamwork

• Complete maintenance work orders and document repairs, parts used, testing data, equipment status, and work performed.
• Communicate unusual conditions, safety concerns, and unresolved equipment problems to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety, lockout/tagout, quality, environmental, and company procedures.
• Provide work direction to one or two employees or other assigned personnel, as needed.
• Perform other related maintenance duties consistent with the scope of the position.

What you’ll bring

Required qualifications

• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial or manufacturing equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience using electrical meters, including a VOM meter, for basic diagnostics.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems systematically and independently.
• Ability to read and interpret technical information, equipment documentation, and maintenance instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to accurately complete maintenance records and work orders.
• Ability to work safely around operating production equipment and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to work 3rd shift and meet the attendance and scheduling requirements of the role.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with facility systems, compressors, HVAC equipment, or low-pressure steam boilers.
• Welding, fabrication, machining, or precision measurement experience.
• Experience supporting production equipment installation, commissioning, or startup.
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, robotics, automated equipment, or controls, if applicable.
• Technical school, apprenticeship, military training, certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Previous experience providing work direction to other maintenance employees.

Work environment and physical requirements

This position works in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to moving equipment, noise, dust, temperature variations, lubricants, and other industrial conditions. The role requires the ability to wear required personal protective equipment and safely perform essential maintenance tasks, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, working in confined or elevated areas, and lifting or moving tools and equipment consistent with the requirements of the position.
