Job Description

Are you a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment? Do you enjoy helping patients while supporting and developing a strong team?

We’re looking for a Patient Access Team Lead to help keep our clinic running smoothly while ensuring every patient receives a welcoming, professional experience from the moment they arrive.

As the Patient Access Team Lead, you’ll provide day-to-day support and leadership for the Patient Access team, helping ensure schedules, registration processes, training, and patient service standards are consistently met.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with daily department scheduling and the monthly preparation of staff schedules.
  • Support department operations and help resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Assist with developing and preparing training and educational materials for Patient Access staff.
  • Participate in the orientation and on-the-job training of new employees and registration staff who need additional support to meet performance standards.
  • Perform patient registration and access functions using computer systems, printers, copiers, fax machines, calculators, directories, and departmental reference materials.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and limited medical information.
  • Obtain required patient signatures for consents and authorizations.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and applicable regulations.
  • Print and distribute registration documents according to hospital policy.
  • Provide patients, families, and visitors with assistance, information, and directions.
  • Collect payments and process patient account transactions.
  • Contact insurance companies and physician offices to obtain certification and/or authorization for inpatient or observation admissions.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with insurance companies, physician offices, patients, families, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Help promote a positive, patient-centered experience throughout the registration process.
  • Participate in employee training, orientation, and ongoing staff development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1–2 years of previous medical or healthcare experience.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
  • Can effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and compassion when interacting with patients and families.
  • Enjoys coaching, training, and supporting coworkers.
  • Is comfortable working with computers and various office equipment.
  • Understands the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Can work collaboratively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and clinical staff.

Why This Role Matters

Patient Access is more than registration—it’s the first impression of the patient experience. As a Team Lead, you’ll help ensure our patients feel welcomed, informed, and supported while providing the leadership and guidance our team needs to succeed.

If you’re ready to lead, make a difference, and help create an exceptional patient experience, we’d love to have you join our team!

If you like working with energetic enthusiastic individuals, you will enjoy your career with us!
