Amentum is seeking a Freight Traffic Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Freight Traffic Specialist supports freight movement, coordination, and documentation activities in accordance with U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, and transportation logistics standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating inbound and outbound cargo movements, tracking shipments, and ensuring freight is processed efficiently through terminal and transportation systems.
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains shipping documentation, manifests, and tracking records to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
  • This role includes coordinating with freight terminals, air and surface transportation teams, and logistics personnel to support timely and secure cargo movement.
  • Additional duties include monitoring shipment status, resolving documentation or routing discrepancies, updating cargo tracking systems, and supporting inventory accountability.
  • Contributes to smooth logistics operations and mission readiness in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in freight coordination, traffic management, logistics support, or transportation operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of freight documentation, cargo tracking, and transportation processes
  • Proficiency with computer‑based tracking systems and data entry
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally
  • Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi‑national workforce
  • Experience supporting military, DoD, or government freight operations
  • Familiarity with air, sea, or surface transportation processes
  • Strong communication, time management, and coordination skills
  • Valid country driver’s license
