POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst is a key member of the Alterra Mountain Company FP&A department, responsible for the financial planning, reporting, and analysis supporting the Ikon Pass and company-wide corporate programs, including corporate insurance. This position owns weekly and monthly Ikon Pass visitation and financial reporting, coordinates the annual budget and monthly forecast for assigned areas, and delivers ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership. The ideal candidate is motivated, self-directed, and comfortable presenting to and partnering with employees at all levels of the company in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Responsibilities:

Ikon Pass & Corporate Programs Financial Support and Oversight:

  • Prepare, review, and distribute weekly and monthly Ikon Pass visitation and financial results reporting, including visit and redemption trends by product and destination, and variance analysis to budget and forecast
  • Prepare the monthly consolidated reporting package for senior leadership, including variance commentary; partner with Accounting on Ikon Pass revenue and visitation entries, accruals, and reclasses
  • Own the analytics for company-wide insurance programs (medical, workers' compensation, property, and general liability), including resort cost allocations, claims and loss trends, accrual review, and renewal modeling
  • Provide financial support for other company-wide corporate programs, including contract economics, revenue and expense tracking, and monthly reporting
  • Facilitate the annual budget for assigned areas; partner with Revenue Management and budget owners on Ikon Pass volume and revenue assumptions
  • Own the monthly forecast for Ikon Pass visits and revenue and assigned corporate programs, including trend analysis and risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management, budget owners, and senior leaders on results review; participate in monthly and quarterly financial review meetings
  • Deliver financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data requests supporting corporate initiatives and target setting; improve reporting tools and automation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting in a mid to large company is preferred
  • Experience working within a large, complex organization is strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build and maintain complex financial models
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, including accruals, allocations, and revenue recognition
  • Strong analytical rigor and attention to detail, with the ability to distill large data sets into clear, executive-level reporting and insight
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial results to non-finance audiences
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative team member who builds trusted relationships with budget owners across all levels of the organization
  • Professional/lived experience working in a culturally competent manner with a broad range of people.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Required: undergraduate degree; ideally a degree in finance, business administration, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: CPA, CFA or MBA with a focus on finance

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of the Company’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Denver area base salary range: $70,000 - $93,000 per year
