Service Technician II
Full-Time • Non-Exempt • In Office-Fullerton, CA
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Technician II to join our service team. In this role, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of MQ Power generation equipment and supporting systems. This position requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers.

What You'll Do
Equipment Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and troubleshoot power generation equipment and identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on generators and related supporting accessories.
- Replace supporting accessories and components as required.
- Interpret and utilize wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation to complete repairs accurately.
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on customer equipment.
Electrical & Electronic Systems
- Remove, disassemble, repair, assemble, and install electrical and mechanical components.
- Work with electrical and electronic systems including:
- Reconnection boards
- Terminal blocks
- Control systems
- Buss panels
- Engine DC systems
- Generator AC systems
- Junction terminal boxes
- Main control switch panels
- Conduct continuity and functional testing using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and generator control systems.
Generator Testing & Commissioning
- Set up and operate portable load bank systems for generator testing.
- Calculate load requirements and testing parameters for various generator models.
- Inspect testing equipment and cables to ensure safe operation during testing.
- Document testing results and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Inspection & Repair of Supporting Systems
- Inspect, maintain, and repair supporting systems including:
- Fuel systems
- Cooling systems
- Electrical systems
- Perform DOT inspections and repairs on trailers manufactured by Multiquip, with the opportunity to obtain DOT certification.
Inventory Management
- Maintain and track technician-specific inventory and service parts.
- Request equipment, tools, and supplies necessary to support field service activities.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and availability to support customer needs.
Collaboration & Customer Service
- Work closely with fellow service technicians to complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Communicate technical findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers and internal teams.
- Deliver a high level of customer service while representing Multiquip professionally in the field.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete service reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, web-based service platforms, and company reporting systems.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation.
Safety & Quality
- Follow all Multiquip quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform all work safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Adhere to company and customer safety requirements at all times.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities and assignments as directed by management.
What You Bring
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of expereince working with current (2020 and newer) power generation equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engine generators.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting experience required.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- Hydraulic schematics
- Equipment manuals
- Safety procedures
- Troubleshooting flowcharts
- Operating and maintenance instructions
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience using diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic service reporting systems.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel to customer job sites and field locations as required.
Licenses, Certifications & Registrations
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- DOT certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
- $30.00/hr-$34.00/hr
- 11 paid Holidays
