Job Description
The Payment Sales Consultant serves as a Payments Facilitator, orchestrating the full spectrum of payment and deposit solutions across client segments as an end-to-end solution selling function across PMI. This role simplifies the go-to-market experience, elevates client conversations, and prioritizes payment opportunities for ICG Relationship Managers (RMs). Acts as the unified face of U.S. Bank’s payments ecosystem, delivering a holistic, consultative experience that integrates liquidity and investments, receivables, payments, commercial cards, merchant services, and trade.
As an experienced individual contributor, has responsibility for the retention and development of for an assigned geographic area, market segment, business line or series of product lines. Develops sales plans and calling strategies for assigned customer base. Serves as a mentor and trainer for other Payment Solution Sales Professionals and will lead assignments and projects as assigned by the Division Manager or Team Lead. Conducts and participates in sales presentations and customer service conferences. Responsible for executing portfolio management activities within client segmentation guidelines to prevent revenue attrition for largest and most complex customer base. Recognized by customers and peers as a key business advisor and confidant and is considered a Payments industry expert. Typically has a bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Portfolio Growth & Retention:
Deliver year-over-year revenue growth, expand relationships, and minimize attrition through proactive account planning and executive multi-threading.
Holistic Payments & Deposits Solutioning
Lead discovery conversations to understand client needs across liquidity and investments, receivables, payments, commercial cards, merchant services, and trade domains.
Translate those needs into integrated, client-centric solutions by engaging product specialists and implementation teams.
Serve as the single point of contact for payments strategy, ensuring consistency and clarity in client messaging.
Organized Client Engagement
Structure and lead client discussions that align with business priorities and payment trends.
Use tools like Deepening Dashboards and Salesforce to track engagement, pipeline, and solution design stages.
Coordinate with ICG RMs to ensure seamless handoffs and shared visibility throughout the sales cycle.
Prioritization of Payments Needs for ICG RMs
Act as a strategic advisor to ICG RMs by identifying and prioritizing payment opportunities within their portfolios.
Provide insights on client segmentation, product fit, and revenue potential.
Help ICG RMs focus on high-impact opportunities while maintaining visibility into all payment-related activities.
Line-Item Pricing Coordination
Own the coordination of pricing across payment products (e.g., CPS, MPS, FX, Prepaid).
Ensure pricing is competitive, bundled appropriately, and aligned with client value.
Partner with product and finance teams to manage margin and profitability.
Actively ensures compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures.
Actively participates in any required corporate and business line training in these areas.
Follows account opening procedures and understands and follows internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position.
Actively works with customers to understand each customer's normal account activity, as appropriate for this position.
Minimum qualifications
Requires strong relationship management and business development abilities.
Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and sales skills.
Must possess a broad knowledge of bank products and services.
Must have the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage customer relationships.
Has well-developed written communication and verbal presentation skills.
Deep expertise in Treasury Management services, including a strong understanding of liquidity and investments, receivables, payments, commercial cards, merchant services, and trade.
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $134,280.00 - 164,120.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
