SUMMARY:
The Parallel Grinder Machine Operator sets up and operates the Parallel Grinder Machine to place a finished edge on glass. Sets up the machine to grind glass to the tolerance of customer specifications. Maintains responsibility for problem solving and for quality control by making necessary adjustments and repairs to the manufactured product. Maintains the Parallel Grinder Machine to run efficiently and maintains a clean and safe work area
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Understand documentation and information on the work orders.
• Know how to use appropriate measurement equipment for quality control.
• Good communication with other co-workers on every shift.
• Maintain a safety-first mindset; wear proper PPE and possess knowledge of safety equipment and workplace safety standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production goals.
YOUR ROLE:
• Set up the machine and operate it, including feeding glass into the grinder and placing the finish edge on the glass.
• Closely monitor the glass as it is machined and quickly adjust during the grinding process as needed to ensure a quality finished product.
• Change grinding wheel(s) as needed.
• Performs paperwork on running time and down time as required.
• Closely monitor the glass as it is machined and quickly adjust during the grinding process as needed to ensure a quality finished product.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders with accuracy.
• Perform grinding wheel adjustments, sharpening, and replacements.
• Troubleshoot and fix skips on machines to ensure proper edgework requirements.
• Effectively communicate with team members across all shifts to maintain production fluidity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements listed here represent the conditions an individual must meet to successfully perform this position's essential functions.
• The ability to lift (from floor to waist level), push, and pull 50 pounds.
• The ability to stand and walk for extended periods on concrete surfaces with regular periods of stooping, bending, or sitting.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
• Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm minimum 40 hours. Mandatory Overtime as Needed
