Position Overview
Assembly Operator will include sorting, assembling and stacking groups of lead plates and separators to form groups. You will ensure that each group/stack has correct number of separators and plates for specific battery on schedule
Areas of Focus
Assembly Operator will be committed to performing the role safely and can wear all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including a respirator.
Responsibilities
Mid-Level
Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of PPE
Understand and follow the Quality policy
Visually inspect batteries for excess lead and assure balance and alignment.
Place shields on batteries
Verify and inspect for misaligned covers and assist heat sealer during full capacity.
Operate air hose to test for leaks
Hammer manufacturing date code onto battery, ensuring readability and proper placement
Operate Fork Lift to move batteries off line to pallet; complete pallet label with appropriate model and part number; transport pallets to remote location
Understand & Follow Work instructions
Follow and maintain Lean activities (5S, housekeeping, hygiene, etc)
Be on time to the work station
Leave work station on time, unless otherwise instructed by the Team Lead/Supervisor
Experienced
Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of PPE
Can perform all assigned duties of Level I worker
Operates one of the following machines on assembly line: Hydroseal, Welding, Heat Sealer, Shear Tester, Post Burn, or Air Tester
Hydroseal operator is also responsible for updating inkjet settings after each change over.
Performs minor preventative maintenance and inspections
Performs minor set-ups and makes adjustments.
Ensure machines are operating at peak performance
Monitor machine controls (temperature, oxygen, gas, etc.)
Visually inspect batteries and identify possible defects that may cause inconsistent welds or other problems
Perform inspection checklist
Anticipates, assesses and troubleshoots batteries that may be rejected
Record quality incidents on appropriate report
Successfully complete and acknowledge your ability to perform OJT
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma, GED, or greater required
• Minimum six months' experience in production, construction, warehouse, or similar work environment
•Read/understand and write basic English sufficient to interpret safety instructions
Performs minor math functions (add, subtract)
