In this rewarding role, you will help strengthen lifelong connections with UQ’s global alumni community through impactful events, programs and engagement initiatives that inspire participation, foster belonging and create meaningful opportunities for connection.

As part of a high-performing and purpose-driven team, you will build relationships that bring together alumni, students, staff and external partners to advance UQ's mission of creating change together. Through your work, you will also contribute to the goals of The Queensland Commitment by engaging alumni in initiatives that empower regional Queensland communities, broaden access to opportunity and generate positive impact for future generations.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support the delivery of high impact, sustainable alumni engagement events and initiatives designed to engage with UQ’s alumni community.

  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a coordinated, University-wide approach aligned with Advancement and the University’s strategic priorities.

  • Represent Advancement and Community Engagement at events and functions.

  • Liaise with external suppliers to secure optimal outcomes for event logistics, including venues, catering, photography and audiovisual requirements.

  • Support the preparation of event briefing material, such as run sheets, briefing notes and guest lists and ensure these are distributed in a timely manner.

  • Maintain the integrity, quality and security of data within the Advancement CRM system through prompt and accurate data updates, including alumni engagement records, post-event information and mass data updates.

  • Support pre and post‑event communications to ensure strategic objectives are met and engagement opportunities are maximised.

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed budgets and post-event reports for engagement initiatives.

Travel and Out of Hours Work

  • Some event‑related travel may be required.

  • The Alumni Engagement Officer on occasion will be required to work after hours or on weekends.

About You

You will have:

  • A tertiary qualification with some relevant experience, or demonstrated work experience in alumni engagement, community engagement and/or events.

  • Demonstrated organisational and planning capability, with strong attention to detail, sound judgement, initiative and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • An understanding of alumni engagement principles and their role in supporting fundraising and volunteer initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality events and engagement activities that achieve strong participation and impact.

  • A strong track record of working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a service-oriented environment.

  • Proficiency in a broad range of computer applications, with experience in event management and marketing platforms, project management tools and CRM systems preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, manage sensitive information with discretion and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • A positive, flexible and emotionally intelligent approach, contributing to a supportive, high-performing and collaborative team culture.
