Position Overview:

The Well Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for executing preventative and corrective maintenance work ensuring cost effective, efficient, and safe operations of the asset. Reporting to the Well Maintenance Senior Foreman, you will have daily interaction between the field operators, remote operations center and engineers covering all aspects of optimization, inspecting and reactivating production. You will also support troubleshooting, reinstate unplanned down time, and cover operator runs as required.

This position will work an 8 & 6 schedule.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Compliance with downhole regulatory requirements

  • Well maintenance including restarting and troubleshooting of wells. This includes but is not limited to well optimization and deferment reduction.

  • Complete subsurface well interventions after completions.

  • Manage contractor execution of swab, slickline, braided line, N2 jobs, acid, and flowback testers.

  • Execute technical day-to-day operations of the Well Maintenance activities to help maintain low deferment (slickline, swabbing, hot oiling etc.)

  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver effective, efficient, and safe operations of the assets

  • Execute routine down hole work such as plunger and bottom hole spring assembly inspections

  • Compressor optimization

  • Regulatory requirements and inspections

  • Fluid shots and dynos

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Post-secondary education or 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate would be considered an asset; High school diploma is required

  • Minimum 8 years direct oil field experience

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Must have complete working knowledge of corporate safety and environmental rules, procedures, and policies

  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required

  • Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to exercise good judgment

  • Excellent conflict management and leadership skills

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Petrosight applications, Scada, and Teams

  • Plunger lift, Gas lift side pocket, gas lift compression tuning, and pumpjack knowledge.  Surface knowledge would be considered an asset.

  • Up to date safety training including: First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, TDG/WHMIS, Ground Disturbance (level II), and Defensive Driving

  • Must have up to date BOP, detection and control of flammable substances and supervisor leadership for health and safety in the workplace certifications.
