As an AML/KYC Senior Analyst, you will play a key role in the execution of investor due diligence activities across the investor lifecycle.

The successful candidate will primarily focus on investor onboarding activities, ensuring investors are onboarded in accordance with applicable AML/CTF regulations, client requirements and Apex policies. In addition to onboarding responsibilities, the role will support periodic reviews, remediation programmes, ongoing monitoring activities and other AML/KYC initiatives as required.

Working closely with clients, investors and internal stakeholders, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service while maintaining strong regulatory compliance, effective risk management and exceptional client experience.

Key Responsibilities

Investor Onboarding

  • Conduct investor onboarding reviews in accordance with applicable AML/KYC regulations, internal policies and client-specific requirements.
  • Perform SDD, CDD and EDD assessments for a wide range of investor types.
  • Review legal documentation, ownership structures, beneficial ownership information and supporting due diligence records.
  • Analyse source of wealth and source of funds information where applicable.
  • Ensure onboarding files are completed accurately and within agreed service level timelines.
  • Liaise directly with investors, intermediaries, distributors and clients to obtain outstanding information and documentation.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk investors, unusual structures and complex AML/KYC matters.
  • Support investor account opening activities and the maintenance of investor records.

Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned fund clients and investor relationships.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client-specific AML/KYC requirements, procedures and risk profiles.
  • Monitor delivery against agreed service levels and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of AML/KYC obligations.
  • Escalate service, quality or risk concerns where appropriate.
  • Support client governance meetings and operational reviews when required.

Periodic Reviews and Ongoing Monitoring

  • Perform investor periodic reviews in line with risk-based review schedules and internal procedures.
  • Support trigger-event reviews and investor remediation exercises.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring activities and risk reassessments.
  • Review investor changes including ownership updates, control changes and material risk events.
  • Ensure investor profiles remain accurate and up to date throughout the investor lifecycle.
  • Escalate identified AML/KYC concerns in a timely manner.

Screening and Risk Assessment

  • Perform sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP) and adverse media screenings using approved tools and systems.
  • Analyse screening results and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Contribute to investor risk assessments and risk classifications.
  • Ensure AML/KYC conclusions are appropriately documented and supported.

Client and Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key contact for AML/KYC queries relating to assigned portfolios.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, relationship managers, compliance teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Participate in client calls, due diligence meetings and internal governance forums where appropriate.
  • Provide clear, professional and timely communication regarding AML/KYC matters.

Operational Excellence

  • Contribute to the achievement of departmental KPIs and service delivery objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records within relevant systems and workflow tools.
  • Support process improvement, automation and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Assist with internal audits, external audits and client due diligence reviews.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures, guidance notes and best practices.
  • Support knowledge sharing and cross-training initiatives across the AML/KYC function.

Wider AML/KYC Lifecycle Support

  • Provide support across onboarding, periodic reviews, remediation and ongoing monitoring activities based on business priorities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Luxembourg and offshore teams to ensure consistent application of AML/KYC standards.
  • Develop expertise across the full investor lifecycle.
  • Promote a client-centric and risk-based approach to investor due diligence.

Skills and Experience Required

Technical Competencies

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience within AML/KYC, Transfer Agency, Investor Services, Fund Administration or Financial Services.
  • Strong practical experience in investor onboarding within the Luxembourg funds industry.
  • Experience performing investor due diligence across various investor types and structures.
  • Exposure to periodic reviews, remediation programmes and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Strong understanding of Luxembourg and European AML/CTF regulatory requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of SDD, CDD, EDD, beneficial ownership, source of wealth and source of funds principles.
  • Experience with sanctions screening, PEP screening and adverse media reviews.
  • Knowledge of Transfer Agency operations and investor lifecycle processes.
  • Experience using AML/KYC workflow platforms, screening tools and investor servicing systems.
  • Knowledge of FATCA and CRS requirements would be considered an advantage.
