Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Environmental Remediation Engineer or Geologist as part of our contaminated site assessment and remediation practice in our Raleigh, North Carolina office. The position will support the Raleigh, North Carolina office by executing a wide range of interdisciplinary tasks supporting site assessment and remediation that leverage their broad-based skill set grounded in either engineering or geology disciplines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, groundwater, and vapor intrusion sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, remedial implementation, and/or remediation treatment system operation and maintenance
- Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation
- Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation
- Geologic and hydrogeologic data analysis
- Groundwater modeling and 3D data visualization
- Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
- Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals
- Environmental management support, including due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in geology or environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (preferred)
- Prior research experience in structural, mining, or hydrogeology. (preferred)
- Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
- Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Office programs, Modflow, and/or EVS. (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required in position)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required in position)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
