Utilities Maintenance Worker Trainee - Customer Service

The City of Sugar Land is seeking to fill the role of a Utilities Maintenance Worker Trainee in the division of Customer Service of the Utilities Department.

What We Pay

The Utilities Maintenance Worker Trainee a starting salary of $20.20 - $23.23 per hour.

• Assist customer service utility techs in all activities involved in the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Assist with response to service requests as they are assigned.
• Begin developing a basic knowledge of the water distribution and wastewater collection system.
• Observe and train how to conduct routine repairs to water mains and sanitary lines.
• Develop customer service skills including customer interaction and problem solving.  (Heavy customer contact.)
• Observe and train how to complete main line valve, fire hydrant, and manhole preventive maintenance.
• Assist Treasury Dept. with requests for service.
• Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster.
• Stay abreast of, and comply with, all City and departmental policies and procedures.  
• Other duties as assigned by the Director or their designee.

What You Bring

Education:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

Relatable Work Experience:

• No previous water or wastewater related experience required.

Training (License and/or Certification):

• Valid Texas Driver License
• National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS-100.b, ICS-200, ICS-700.a within three months after hire date.
