Description
Lead traffic design projects that improve how people move across North Carolina.
DRMP is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to manage traffic design projects from scope and fee development through final delivery. Based in our Charlotte office, you will guide multidisciplinary teams and serve as a trusted technical partner on NCDOT and other public- and private-sector assignments.
This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
What you will lead:
- Manage multiple traffic design projects, balancing scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client expectations.
- Lead traffic signal, traffic control, signing, and pavement marking design assignments.
- Review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for technical quality.
- Coordinate the work of engineers, designers, CAD technicians, field staff, surveyors, and project partners.
- Prepare scopes and fee proposals and support client communication throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site inspections and field assessments, maintain clear documentation, and resolve design issues.
- Supervise and mentor associates and interns while helping the team grow its technical capability.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer license in North Carolina.
- At least five years of progressively responsible transportation engineering experience, including work with NCDOT.
- Hands-on experience with traffic signals, traffic control, signing and pavement markings, and cost estimating.
- Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD and the judgment to lead several projects at once.
