This role will work on customs operations matters at the Shenzhen Futian site. This role will also support operational implementation of Global Trade Compliance program in Futian and across other China sites, as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customs and trade laws and requirements, along with practical experience in Futian Free Trade Zone or similar customs bonded zones.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of import customs operations: independently prepare, validate and cross-check all import declaration documentation to minimize data discrepancies, missing information or non-compliant submissions, ensuring every document set meets both Customs regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Operate the China International Trade Single Window platform with full proficiency, covering end-to-end workflows including import declaration submission, structured data entry, pre-submission compliance review, official receipt tracking and real-time clearance status follow-up. Resolve routine declaration exceptions independently to maintain on-time, smooth customs release for all cargo.
  • Serve as the designated subject matter expert for hazardous chemical import operations: maintain up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of China Customs regulatory frameworks, declaration specifications and special supervision requirements for hazardous chemicals. Lead the full process of hazardous chemical document preparation, compliant declaration and pre-import regulatory filing to eliminate non-compliance risks for restricted-category shipments.
  • Manage all bonded zone/free trade zone-related import operations independently, with full mastery of special customs supervision zone administrative rules and zone-specific clearance procedures
  • Establish and maintain a standardized, traceable customs recordkeeping: systematically archive all customs declaration records, hazardous chemical filing documents and other compliance materials, and build a centralized, searchable customs operation ledger for long-term audit and regulatory reference.
  • Deliver accurate, consistent HS classification services for all import commodities, conduct pre-declaration classification risk assessment, and provide professional classification consultation to support business teams in avoiding classification-related customs penalties and clearance delays.
  • Effectively and closely collaborate with customs brokers for above tasks.
  • Support other sites and team members in China on operational and trade compliance matters as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or above degree in law, international business, supply chain, or related
  • 8+ years of China customs operation work experience
  • Solid experience in Free Trade Zone or similar customs bonded zones
  • Experience for China customs compliance will be a plus
  • Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin); proficiency in English.
  • Solid work experience in prestigious law firms and consulting firms will be a plus.
  • Proven proficiency across all activities referenced in the Core Job Responsibilities section.
  • Strong proficiency on customs clearance efficiency and enhancement
  • Effective communicator with the ability to advise and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Global Trade Management or ERP-based compliance tools.
