This role is intended for an experienced deal professional who can execute multiple transactions through the full deal cycle as a key member of the deal team, either independently on certain transactions or with Director oversight on more complex opportunities. The Senior Manager will be expected to lead core execution workstreams, own and review financial modeling, contribute to client interactions and negotiations, prepare internal investment materials, support market and business development efforts, and help mentor junior team members.

  • Lead or support transaction structuring, including development of term sheets and review or negotiation of transaction documents
  • Build, own, and manage financial models, including project operating pro formas and portfolio models, to analyze investment opportunities, structure transactions, and evaluate associated risks
  • Serve as a primary execution resource on transactions, coordinating workstreams from initial qualification and internal underwriting through diligence, documentation, and closing
  • Prepare and review internal transaction materials that clearly summarize strategic rationale, economic terms, governance considerations, material risks, and mitigants
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders across legal, risk, portfolio management, accounting, and operations to support efficient execution
  • Help ensure transaction processes are well managed, issues are surfaced early, and internal stakeholders are kept informed

Business Development and Market Support

  • Support pipeline development and client acquisition efforts focused on building repeat and programmatic relationships
  • Participate in client meetings, conferences, industry events, and trade associations as part of HASI’s market presence and origination efforts
  • Contribute to market assessments, opportunity screening, and strategic analyses related to sector growth and new investment themes
  • Assist in evaluating market size, competitive dynamics, customer demand, pricing expectations, and relevant regulatory or policy developments
  • Work closely with senior team members to help advance new opportunities from initial engagement through screening and execution

Portfolio Management and Capital Markets

  • Work closely with Portfolio Management and Risk Management teams to provide investment support for existing portfolio assets
  • Assist with strategic analyses, follow-on opportunities, amendments, waivers, or other portfolio-related matters, as needed
  • As needed, support financing processes for investment-level project finance transactions, including financial model ownership, due diligence support, and coordination of documentation-related workstreams
  • Liaise on corporate due diligence requirements related to underlying project and portfolio investments

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor and help develop junior team members, including Analysts and Associates, through day-to-day coaching and review of work product
  • Act as a go-to execution resource and collaborative team member within the deal process
  • Support training of newer team members and contribute to a strong, team-oriented culture

Specific Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities, with demonstrated experience building and managing complex investment models
  • Strong transaction execution skills, including diligence management and coordination of third parties through closing
  • Ability to identify both detailed and broader transaction issues and communicate implications clearly
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills in evaluating investments and managing execution processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present ideas clearly to deal teams and management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment
  • Action-oriented self-starter with strong collaboration skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly as business needs evolve
  • Familiarity with project finance structures and transaction documentation
  • Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently while escalating issues appropriately
