The School of Medicine is seeking a high-calibre individual who excels in a dynamic, fast-paced, and multi-tasking environment to provide financial management and planning support as a Manager/Assistant Manager (Finance). The appointee is responsible for handling financial related matters and will report to the Senior Manager (Finance & Development).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of the School of Medicine’s budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Monitor and report on financial performance, including income and expenditure analysis, to support decision-making
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and presentations for school meetings, committee meetings and stakeholder review
- Oversee and manage the procurement process for goods and services required by the School of Medicine, ensuring compliance with university procurement policies, ethical standards, and best practices
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost savings, improve efficiency, and ensure timely delivery of essential resources
- Review and approve purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor contracts, ensuring all documentation are complete and accurate
- Assist in financial audits and ensure adherence to institutional policies and regulations
- Coordinate and ensure timely processing of financial transactions, including invoices and reimbursements
- Facilitate communication between the Finance Office, and related stakeholders regarding financial matters
- Participate in special projects related to finance, development, and strategic planning as needed
- Supervise and mentor junior staff where appropriate, foster a collaborative and innovative work environment in pursuit of achieving the School’s and University’s goals
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Entry Requirements
- Hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, together with a professional accounting qualification and membership in a recognized accounting body such as HKICPA, ACCA, or an equivalent
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant post-qualification work experience in management reporting, audit, finance transformation, or related finance functions, preferably within a sizable organization or tertiary institution within the education sector. Candidates with more extensive relevant experience may be considered for the Manager position. Ideal applicants will have strong knowledge and practical experience in audit liaison, internal controls, financial governance, compliance, and PRC accounting or reporting requirements
- Be proactive team players who take ownership of their responsibilities and demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- A high level of attention to detail, the ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate effectively are essential. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese are required, with Putonghua proficiency considered an advantage
- Relevant computer application and IT skills are expected
Work outside normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, may occasionally be required.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of a 2-year contract. Renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
