Job summary

CDW is seeking a detailed orientated, people-focused Employee Relations Advisor to provide consistent, timely and legally robust employee relations support across UK&I. Reporting to the Employee Relations Partner within HR Shared Services, this role ensures the fair treatment of coworkers, compliance with employment legislation and the protection of organisational risk. Working closely with HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services, Payroll, Legal and other HR centres of expertise, you will deliver pragmatic advice, manage cases effectively and enable confident people management that minimises disruption and promotes a positive, productive coworker experience.

What you will do

Employee Relations Case Management

  • Provide end-to-end advice and support on employee relations matters including but not limited to disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management, probation, capability, misconduct, redundancy, TUPE, flexible working and family leave.
  • Manage discipline, grievance, absence, performance and appeal cases, providing clear, risk-based recommendations and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Respond to ER tickets and queries within agreed SLAs (within one working day), progressing cases in line with policy and legal timeframes.
  • Support investigations, attend hearings, draft correspondence, and prepare outcome letters and appeal documentation.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and keep case management systems up to date.
  • Apply human-centred principles to case handling, ensuring approaches are grounded in empathy, fairness and coworker needs.
  • Support with HR shared services tickets as and when required.

Change, continuous improvement & insight

  • Support organisational change processes such as TUPE, redundancy and restructures, ensuring consistent, people-centred and legally compliant execution.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of ER processes, procedures, templates, toolkits and guidance.
  • Support the adoption of AI and self-service HR tools, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and coworker experience.

Governance, risk management & compliance

  • Ensure decisions are fair, consistent and compliant with UK employment legislation, CDW policies and values.
  • Anticipate employee relations risks, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the ER Partner, Legal and HR Business Partners to ensure proactive mitigation.
  • Advise managers on the correct and consistent application of policy across the business.

Stakeholder management & collaboration

  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers, senior leaders, stakeholders and HR, providing insight, recommendations and structured options to support decision making.
  • Improve manager capability through coaching and guidance, building confidence in handling people matters.
  • Build strong working relationships with managers, HR Business Partners, the HRSS team, Payroll and Legal to ensure coordinated case handling.
  • Demonstrate strong cultural awareness to ensure approaches are inclusive, locally relevant and aligned with global standards.

What we expect of you

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven hands-on management of complex employee relations cases within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law, with legally sound judgement.
  • Excellent case management prioritisation skills and high attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting change management processes including TUPE, redundancy and restructures.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including active listening, with a proven ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coach managers and build their capability.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, make sound judgements and adapt style to maintain strong relationships at all levels.
  • Resilience and comfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Commitment to creating inclusive, engaging experiences that prioritise employee wellbeing and growth.

Preferred skills, experience, and qualities needed

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification.
  • Experience with Workday and other HR systems.
  • Experience using case management and workflow tools (e.g. ServiceNow, SharePoint), with the ability to adapt quickly to new digital and AI-enabled platforms.

CDW is committed to being an AI-fluent organization

We’re looking for people who bring curiosity, a learner’s mindset, and a willingness to engage with ever-evolving technology and tools. We value adopting AI as a partner, openness to experimentation, and a shared interest in learning together on AI. Our goal is to create a culture where AI enhances—not replaces—human creativity and decision-making. You don’t need to be an expert today; what matters is your readiness to explore, adapt, and grow with us as we integrate AI responsibly and effectively into our work.

Additionally, CDW is committed to fostering an equitable, transparent, and respectful hiring process for all applicants. During our application process, our goal is to understand your experience, strengths, skills, and qualifications. As an AI forward company, we see AI not just as a tool, but as a catalyst for new ways of thinking, creating, and communicating. We encourage candidates to embrace an AI mindset, one that’s curious, adaptive, and ready to explore what’s possible. We welcome thoughtful use of AI to expand your perspective and elevate how you share your story, while ensuring your application remains rooted in your own background, judgment, and voice.
