Description

The Event Safety Coordinator oversees and enforces safety standards during all phases of event production—from pre-production planning through on‑site activation and teardown. This fully onsite role is critical to ensuring that all build-in, live event, and de-rig operations meet regulatory, company, and client safety requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement event-specific safety plans, tailoring protocols to each build, activation, and venue.Conduct site risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and ensuring mitigations are in place prior to build-in.Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and daily briefings with event crew, vendors, and subcontractors.Monitor setup, activation, and teardown activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures, load limits, and rigging standards.Conduct regular inspections of staging, trusses, lighting rigs, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection, and safe work practices.Report and document safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents, investigating causes and recommending corrective actions.Liaise with venue staff, event producers, rigging crews, and local authorities to ensure safety compliance.Support emergency response planning and procedures (evacuation, crowd management, incident response).Maintain accurate records of safety meetings, inspections, incident reports, and certifications.Train event staff, crew, and subcontractors in safety protocols, equipment use, and best practices.Promote a strong safety culture on site, encouraging proactive behavior and accountability.Review and update safety policies and procedures based on post-event evaluations and lessons learned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; degree or certification in occupational safety, construction safety, or related field preferred.3+ years of experience in event production, live events, or construction safety coordination.Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, rigging safety, crowd management, and event-specific safety standards.Experience performing risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits.Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to train, mentor, and enforce standards with diverse teams.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.Physical fitness and comfort working at heights, on scaffolding, and in dynamic environments.Certification such as OSHA 30, Fall Protection, First Aid / CPR, or similar is preferred.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to event sites.Familiarity with technical production rigging, truss systems, and structural safety is a plus.Work Environment & ConditionsThis role is fully onsite during event build-in, activation, and teardown.Exposure to construction-like and production environments: trusses, lighting, heavy equipment, loud noise.Work schedule may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and travel depending on event timelines.Requires use of PPE, including hard hats, harnesses, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing.Why Work at BMF?Play a critical role in protecting crew, clients, and event attendees.Partner with producers, designers, and technical teams to build a culture of safety.Influence safety practices across a wide range of immersive, brand-driven experiences.Grow into leadership positions within production safety or operations management.Be part of an innovative, collaborative agency where your impact matters deeply.
