Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
What you will do
- Prepare high‑volume, nutritious meals for residential participants in line with food safety requirements
- Cook and serve meals on time, following approved menus and budget guidelines
- Develop menu plans for manager approval
- Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and dining area in accordance with Australian Food Safety Standards and TSA policies
- Manage stock levels, receive deliveries, and store supplies correctly
- Rotate stock and monitor food quality to meet HACCP standards
What you will bring
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or willingness to work towards it)
- Experience in kitchen or catering operations
- Ability to work a flexible roster across 7 days
- Minimum 1 year experience in a commercial kitchen
- Strong understanding of safe food‑handling practices
- HACCP knowledge (highly regarded)
- Working With Children Check
- Driver’s licence
