Description
Role: Recovery Worker / Support Worker – Addiction Recovery
Location: Manchester
Hours: 40 hrs per week
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000
What will you be doing?
- Supporting individuals recovering from addiction while living in secondary accommodation, helping them maintain recovery and develop independent living skills.
- Completing assessments, developing person-centred recovery plans, and supporting clients to achieve their recovery goals.
- Delivering one-to-one keywork sessions, facilitating group work, and contributing to structured recovery programmes.
- Providing relapse prevention support, coping strategies, and harm reduction advice where appropriate.
- Encouraging clients to access education, training, volunteering, employment, and community-based activities.
- Supporting clients with housing, benefits, budgeting, wellbeing, and other practical daily living needs.
- Accompanying clients to appointments, therapy sessions, and external activities where required.
- Managing client admissions and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions into and out of the service.
- Facilitating house meetings and supporting the day-to-day running of the accommodation, including medication support and wellbeing planning.
- Completing risk assessments, maintaining accurate case records, care plans, and handovers.
- Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, housing providers, probation services, and other partner agencies to provide holistic support.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures, CQC standards, organisational policies, and confidentiality requirements.
- Participating in training, supervision, and team meetings to support continuous professional development.
Experience/qualifications required:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) as a minimum; Level 3 is desirable.
- Level 3 qualification or Diploma in Addictions, Substance Misuse, or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with substance misuse, addiction recovery, mental health, or within supported housing.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills with a compassionate, non-judgemental approach.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently when required.
- Experience completing risk assessments, care planning, and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Good IT skills, including maintaining electronic records and using Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of recovery-focused approaches, including harm reduction and abstinence models.
- Experience facilitating group sessions, delivering structured interventions, or using motivational interviewing techniques is desirable.
- Lived experience of recovery or peer support training is beneficial but not essential.
