Description

- Supervises personnel which includes providing resources, completing performance evaluations, resolving personnel issues, and providing employee training.
- Schedules and priorities vehicle repairs for the city.
- Schedules and assigns work according to the skill level of the employees within the department.
- Maintains and updates the preventative maintenance schedule, as needed.
- Assists with troubleshooting and diagnosing maintenance problems and identifies the best solution(s) for repair.
- Maintains the parts inventory and orders supplies, as needed; research for hard-to-find and obsolete parts.
- Attends staff meetings to provide equipment updates and communicates upcoming equipment needs.
- Assists with equipment specifications and purchases.
- Performs monthly inspections for DEQ storm water at the water department.
- Maintains shop cleanliness and building maintenance.
- Performs procurement card purchases and paperwork.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D with up to one (1) year of specialized or technical training beyond High School with a concentration in Automotive, Heavy Equipment Maintenance or related field.
- Strong diagnostic skills with scan tools experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of municipal experience and a minimum of (5) five years of fleet experience.
- Valid Michigan Driver's License
- Commercial Driver's License, Class A
- State Mechanic's Certification
- Storm Water Certification must be obtained within one (1) year.
- State of Michigan Master Automotive and Master Heavy Duty Truck Certification.
- Underground storage tank certification, Class A, must be obtained within one (1) year.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting contracts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong, clear communicator and excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to effectively and positively communicate with all levels within the organization.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency, prioritizes well, shows energy, responds to opportunities, instills urgency in others, and meets deadlines.
