Brief Job Description
The Heart of House Supervisor is responsible for leading the kitchen team and supporting daily back-of-house operations to deliver an exceptional guest experience. This role works closely with management to ensure food quality, food safety, operational efficiency, and team development while maintaining Boston Pizza and Canalta brand standards. The successful candidate leads by example, supports all kitchen positions when needed, and fosters a positive, high-performing work environment.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support all Heart of House team members, including Cooks, Expeditors, and Scullery Technicians.
- Step into any kitchen role as required to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
- Coach, train, and develop team members while providing ongoing performance feedback and recognition.
- Maintain food quality, food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
- Complete operational checklists and ensure equipment and facilities are properly maintained.
- Manage inventory, product ordering, and control food, waste, and labour costs.
- Support guest satisfaction by resolving concerns professionally and ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Work collaboratively with restaurant leadership to achieve operational and financial goals.
- Uphold company policies, brand standards, and core values while promoting a positive workplace culture.
- Participate in restaurant promotions and local marketing initiatives as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Completion of training in all Heart of House positions, or willingness to complete required training.
- Food Handler Certification required; Standard First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Criminal Record Check may be required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to food safety, quality, and exceptional guest service.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts when required.
- Capable of standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working safely in a busy kitchen environment.
