The Associate Vice President of Transportation Services directs and provides visionary leadership and guidance establishing the strategic direction for Transportation Services at Texas A&M University. Collaborates with key stakeholders, including department heads, senior management, and external partners, to develop and implement innovative strategies that improve efficiency, sustainability, and overall effectiveness of transportation, transit, para transit, parking, fleet systems, and events. Identifies and assesses potential risks and opportunities within transportation domains, conducting comprehensive evaluations and advises the executive leadership for informed decision making. Oversees and evaluates transportation capital and infrastructure needs which includes campus vehicles, parking inventory, and total operations.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Leadership and Strategic Oversight
Directs and provides visionary leadership and guidance establishing the strategic direction for Transportation Services at Texas A&M University.
Collaborates with key stakeholders, including department heads, senior management, and external partners, to develop and implement innovative strategies that improve efficiency, sustainability, and overall effectiveness of transportation, transit, para transit, parking, fleet systems, and events.
Provides strategic oversight of Transportation Services operations during gameday and other special events on Texas A&M Campus.
Identifies and assesses potential risks and opportunities within transportation domains, conducting comprehensive evaluations and advises the executive leadership for informed decision making.
Represents Transportation Services in operational meetings, town halls, committees, task forces, and partnerships with campus leadership.
Collaborates with cities, state and other regional organizations involved in transportation planning.
Serves as a member of the Operations leadership team and advises the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of internal and external issues affecting Transportation Services.
Serves on state, national, and international parking organizations and committees.
Strategic Planning and Operations
Oversees and evaluates transportation capital and infrastructure needs which includes campus vehicles, parking inventory, and total operations.
Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to identify funding opportunities and sources to meet operational needs.
Provides annual budget guidance to divisional units, and monitors operations by establishing cost controls and budget performance metrics.
Develops and implements comprehensive benchmark strategies of Texas A&M’s parking inventory, pricing structure, and other metrics compared to other higher education institutions.
Monitors and evaluates on and off-campus routes for user ridership, service levels of high demand areas, sufficient campus parking, and efficient traffic flow for on-campus events.
Directs the day-to-day management of the Transportation Services staff, ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and project planning for transportation across Texas A&M.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in management.
Ten years of management in a highly complex or higher education organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in parking, transit or fleet operations.
Experience working in a higher education transportation operation.
Ability to grow and develop teams, propose process improvements strategies, and facilitate difficult conversation.
Skilled in leadership development and strategic planning.
Master’s degree in management or related field.
Experience in planning/urban planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Skilled in written and verbal communication.
Ability to effectively manage large organizations.
Ability to plan, organize, and manage large, complex, and highly skilled departments.

Experience with operations, budgeting, facility performance, and staff assessment.
Other Requirements and Factors
This position is security sensitive.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
Must work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellation, etc. Must report to work and remain on duty unless relieved by direct supervisor.
Must travel across campus for meetings, athletic events, and other special events.
