Description
This is a temporary contract position commencing on 1 August 2026 and ending on December 2026.
A specialist Psychiatry practice based in Paarl and Franschhoek, Western Cape is seeking to recruit an experienced Medical Receptionist. The successful candidate will be professional, organised, compassionate, and able to provide exceptional administrative and patient support within a confidential mental healthcare environment.
Roles and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Prepare and maintain patient files and records
- Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments
- Manage the doctor's diary and appointment calendar
- Answer and respond to phone calls, emails, and WhatsApp enquiries
- Receive and assist patients at reception
- Maintain professional communication with patients and healthcare stakeholders
- Submit medical aid claims and issue invoices
- Capture and update patient information accurately
- Ensure patient records and documentation are maintained efficiently
- Assist with general reception and administrative duties
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and patient-centred reception environment
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all patient and practice information
Qualification and Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience within a medical practice
- Previous experience in a psychiatry or psychology practice advantageous
- Strong medical administration background
- Computer literacy essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Google Calendar and Google Docs
- Knowledge of Panacea and EMGuidance advantageous
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08h00 – 17h00
