M1Production Supervisor
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 3:45 AM – 4:00 PM (Fridays as scheduled)
Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for maintaining high levels of production, quality, and yield while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. This role oversees daily production operations, staffing, food safety, quality compliance, and employee performance to achieve operational goals. The Production Supervisor must have a strong understanding of the production process, workforce management, recordkeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives while fostering a positive team culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review daily production schedules and orders to ensure customer requirements are met accurately and on time.
- Ensure all production line positions are properly staffed before startup.
- Oversee team member warm-up exercises and job rotation programs to support ergonomics and reduce workplace injuries.
- Monitor production processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and yield.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment are operating effectively and notify maintenance personnel as needed.
- Verify that all workstations meet USDA inspection standards and company food safety requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety through daily observations, coaching, and monthly safety meetings.
- Ensure accurate product coding, inventory rotation, and shipment verification.
- Maintain production records, yield reports, and documentation for reworked or returned products.
- Communicate company policies, benefits, compensation programs, and operational expectations to team members.
- Provide leadership, motivation, and support to create a productive and engaged workforce.
- Train, develop, coach, and retain team members while addressing performance concerns as needed.
- Counsel employees regarding personal and professional issues affecting workplace performance.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to resolve production, staffing, quality, and operational challenges.
- Reinforce quality standards and provide ongoing education regarding product quality expectations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional education, vocational training, technical certifications, or college coursework is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Poultry or food processing experience preferred.
- SAP experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency, including production reporting and data entry.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises production team members performing related production activities.
- Responsible for employee training, scheduling, performance management, attendance monitoring, and coaching.
Travel
- Occasional travel required (1–5 trips per year).
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and poultry processing environment.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and production equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and monitoring of production operations throughout the shift.
- Ability to work extended hours and Fridays as business needs require.
