Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for providing leadership to the Patient Accounts Department of the Spencer Hospital.
• Monitors appropriate indicators for staffing, productivity, quality, fiscal accountability, budget, and continuous improvement for the areas of responsibility.
• Manages the operations of the department including human resources, legal and regulatory compliance, and providing professional and/or technical expertise.
• Responsible for maintaining billed accounts receivable within established standards.
• Acts as a role model for employees by initiating and accepting change.
• Has good knowledge of all areas within the patient accounting departments and leads to ensure all areas work as a team.

Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Business preferred.
• 3 years medical business office experience preferred.
• General knowledge of hospital policies and procedures of medical insurance, insurance forms, and Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
• Excellent verbal and written skills, pronounced organizational skills, accomplished analytical skills.
• Must have the ability to meet and communicate with staff, patients, visitors, and/or family members.

Schedule:

• 80 hour per pay period salaried exempt
• Typical hours Mon-Fri; 8a-4:30p
• The schedule may fluctuate based on the needs of the department
