Senior Instructional Developer

As a Senior Instructional Developer, you will ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter by supporting training and career development activities for federal government clients of GDIT. In this role, you will lead instructional teams, as well as produce and execute virtual learning programs (webinars, WBT, virtual conferences), in‑person training, job aids, blogs, and other career-development resources. Strong design, development, facilitation, and leadership skills are essential. 


HOW A SENIOR INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT


  • Designs and develops instructional approaches and interactive courseware that meet training requirements.
  • Leads and mentors teams of instructional designers, developers, and multimedia staff, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Participates in developing business strategies for new and existing learning products that meet government training needs.
  • Engages with customer leadership, subject matter experts, and instructional designers to gather requirements and builds innovative learning solutions and content.
  • Conducts research to inform course design and ensure relevance of learning content.
  • Develops section 508 compliant web-based, instructor-led, and virtual instructor-led training materials including SCORM-conformant content, instructor guides, student guides, quick reference guides, and supplemental performance support materials.
  • Plans, develops, manages, and evaluates in-person, online, and hybrid training programs.
  • Supports learning technology initiatives, including webinars, online courses, self-paced e-learning, and streaming video.
  • Prepares program content and messaging (course descriptions, learning objectives, outreach communications).
  • Contributes to business proposals and contract reporting activities as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, e-learning, instructional design, or related field.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting online learning and other learning technologies
  • Preferred: Experience leading instructional teams

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Captivate, Rise 360, Storyline, or other web‑based training software.
  • Preferred: Experience using project management tools and processes to plan, track, and manage training projects and assignments.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to confidently engage with customer leadership to understand goals, clarify needs, and propose effective, solution‑focused learning approaches
  • Experience leading and mentoring instructional design and development teams.
  • Strong understanding and application of all phases of the ADDIE process.
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning theory.
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 compliance and experience producing accessible training products.
  • Experience facilitating training in-person or online.
  • Experience developing design documents, storyboards, and e-learning prototypes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of major online delivery and content-sharing platforms (ON24, WebEx, Adobe Connect, Blackboard, SharePoint, etc.).

The likely salary range for this position is $81,349 - $95,450. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
