Designer I - Bakery

As a Designer - Bakery, you will lead the development of innovative flavor and taste solutions for bakery applications from concept through commercialization. Leveraging your expertise in bakery products, ingredient functionality, flavor interactions, and product development, you will partner with customers and cross-functional teams to create consumer-centric, technically sound, and commercially successful solutions. This role combines hands-on application work, customer engagement, project leadership, and innovation to drive growth across bakery categories including cakes, biscuits, cookies, crackers, sweet baked goods, and related applications.

Where You'll Make a Difference

• Lead the development and optimization of flavor and taste solutions for bakery applications that meet customer, consumer, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
• Manage projects independently from concept through commercialization across a variety of bakery categories including cakes, biscuits, cookies, crackers, sweet baked goods, and fillings.
• Design and execute laboratory and pilot-scale trials to ensure flavor performance and scalability.
• Partner closely with customers, providing technical expertise, recommendations, and troubleshooting support.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Flavor Creation, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Marketing, and Sales teams.
• Drive innovation by translating consumer insights, emerging trends, and new technologies into differentiated bakery flavor solutions.
• Support category growth initiatives, innovation programs, and continuous improvement projects.
• Present concepts, prototypes, and technical recommendations confidently to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and share technical knowledge with colleagues to strengthen organizational capabilities.

What Makes You the Right Fit

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Human Nutrition, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 6-7 years of experience in bakery product development, food ingredients, flavors, or related food manufacturing industries.
• Strong expertise in bakery applications, product development, and commercialization.
• Deep understanding of ingredient functionality, flavor interactions, bakery processing technologies
• Hands-on experience working with bakery categories such as cakes, biscuits, cookies, crackers, sweet baked goods, fillings
• Proven ability to lead customer projects independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Experience working directly with customers and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong creativity, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Successful completion of internal IFF sensory requirements.
• Fluent English communication skills
