We’re looking for a Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner to join our Theatre team at The Harley Street Clinic, currently rated "Outstanding" by the CQC. At HCA UK, we know exceptional patient care starts with exceptional colleagues. That's why we're committed to creating an environment where your expertise is recognised, your wellbeing is valued and your professional development is actively supported.
The Harley Street Clinic is recognised for delivering some of the most complex and advanced surgical care in the UK. Our theatres support a diverse and highly specialised caseload across cardiac, neurosurgery, thoracic, vascular, spinal, plastic, breast reconstruction, ENT, gastrointestinal and maxillofacial surgery. Working alongside leading Consultants and multidisciplinary teams, you'll have the opportunity to develop and refine your skills within a technologically advanced theatre environment where clinical excellence is at the heart of everything we do.
As a Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, high quality perioperative care while supporting a wide range of complex surgical procedures. This is a role for an experienced practitioner who can confidently manage demanding cases, anticipate the needs of the surgical team and contribute to the continued development of theatre services. Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you'll share your expertise with colleagues, support junior team members and help maintain the outstanding standards our patients expect.
Our theatres operate Monday to Saturday, with on call cover provided seven days a week. As part of this role, you'll participate in the theatre on call rota, which typically consists of eight to 10 on call shifts per month, although this may vary depending on service requirements, annual leave and departmental activity. Colleagues participating in the rota are required to be within one hour of The Harley Street Clinic when on call, or have suitable arrangements in place to ensure they can meet this requirement.
At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.
What you'll do:
- Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care using evidence based practice throughout the perioperative pathway.
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate perioperative patient care, ensuring individual patient needs remain at the centre of every decision.
- Prepare instruments, equipment and consumables according to the requirements of the patient and Consultant, contributing to the maintenance and ongoing development of surgeon preference cards.
- Ensure all theatre equipment is checked prior to use and that any faults or concerns are escalated appropriately to maintain the highest standards of safety.
- Participate fully as a senior member of the theatre team, working across all areas of the theatre suite, mentoring junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting a collaborative working environment.
What you'll bring:
- Current NMC or HCPC registration.
- Significant scrub experience within an acute theatre environment, with the ability to independently manage complex surgical cases.
- Exposure to a broad range of specialties including cardiac, neurosurgery, thoracic, vascular, spine, plastics, breast reconstruction, ENT, gastrointestinal and maxillofacial surgery.
- Strong understanding of perioperative assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively with Consultants, multidisciplinary teams and junior colleagues.
