Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior HPC Data Center Linux IT Specialist to join our IT team. This role supports Linux systems, storage platforms, and HPC infrastructure while working under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Linux systems.
- Support routing operational tasks, monitoring, and health checks.
- Respond to support tickets and assist with issue resolution.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in change management processes.
- Assist with patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Support storage, backup and data management activities.
- Learn and assist with automation and scripting.
- Support SLURM environments and HPC users.
- Follow security policies, ITIL fundamentals, and operational standards.
Skills & Competencies:
- Essential:
- 0-2 years of Linux administration, IT support, or related experience.
- Basic Linux command-line knowledge.
- Understanding of hardware, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
- Basic scripting knowledge.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Desirable:
- Exposure to Linux through internships, labs, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with Git, Ansible, Docker, or similar tools.
- Understanding of NAS, SAN, or backup technologies.
- Exposure to HPC environments.
- Entry-level certifications such as Linux+ or Network+.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 0-2 years of professional IT experience, internship experience, or equivalent technical background.
- Demonstrated interest in Linux administration, automation, cloud computing, or HPC technologies.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Strong customer service orientation and willingness to learn.
- Must have legal right to live and work in the United States.
