Greet visitors and incoming patients upon arrival to the health system, answers inquiries, and assists in giving directions. Ensures efficient and orderly processing through registration and treatment areas, while exhibiting warmth, compassion, and responsiveness to patients, their families and friends, professionals, and co-workers within the health system.Major Job Functions

Welcomes all customers (patients, guests, families, staff, physicians, vendors, etc.) both in person and telephone in a helpful and courteous manner while extending exemplary customer service
Identifies and adds patients to the Today’s Patients Report in Epic in a fast-paced environment
Anticipates and responds to inquiries and needs in an assertive, yet courteous manner
Maintains up-to-date patient census
Responsible for maintaining Code/Anonymous patient log and ensures patient’s name has been corrected
Escort patients to various departments within the facility
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical Terminology required within 90 days of initial employment
Work Experience:
3 months clerical experience within a hospital or medical office setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and knowledge of basic functionality of personal computer
Ability to type and perform data entry functions at a level required and needed to maintain productivity standards of a department
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated customer service skills to a variety of customers from different cultural and economic backgrounds preferred
Critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task
Multi-skilled with the ability to appropriately handle complexity and stress with the changing needs of the patients, families, visitors, and the Health System
Physical Requirements:
May be required to periodically rotate shifts and regular days off
Communicate orally, see, and hear to collect information
Dexterity to operate office equipment
Subject to eyestrain due to many hours spent looking at computer screen
Sitting or standing in intervals for long periods of time
Noise level is low to moderate
Answers telephone calls, uses computer, and other business machines extensively
Bends, reaches pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reports
Ability to transport patients and assist with baggage
Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
