Position Overview


The European Cash Desk manages cash and liquidity across PIMCO client accounts supporting Portfolio Managers in Europe, Asia and Australia. Working closely with Portfolio Management, the team helps optimize liquidity, invest excess cash and raise cash to meet portfolio and client requirements.


Based across London and Munich, the team also manages daily cash flows and provides accurate, timely cash information to the investment desks.


The role offers broad exposure to the investment management process and regular interaction with Portfolio Managers, Account Managers, clients, vendors and custodian banks, alongside opportunities to enhance processes, controls and automation.


Key Responsibilities


  • Partner with the Short-Term Desk to actively manage cash across relevant accounts.
  • Monitor cash positions and manage adjustments throughout the day to maintain accurate information for the investment desks.
  • Work with Portfolio Associates, Portfolio Managers, clients, KVGs and Account Managers on client-directed cash contributions and withdrawals.
  • Manage fund, segregated account and trade lifecycle cash movements to support accurate cash projections.
  • Identify potential risks within existing processes and controls and implement appropriate enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reports, tools and workflows through increased automation.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to ad hoc queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the account lifecycle from a cash management perspective, including transitions, closures and new account setup.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of cash management processes, controls and workflows.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, ideally in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline.
  • Relevant experience within asset management, investment operations, cash or liquidit
  • management, fund operations, portfolio support or a related financial services environment.
  • Exposure to cash forecasting, reconciliations, trade lifecycle management, fund operations or investment portfolio processes would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of financial markets and investment products, with an interest in developing deeper knowledge of portfolio and liquidity management.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong Excel skills, including experience writing and debugging complex macros.
  • SQL, Python and/or other process automation experience would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data, investigating discrepancies and solving problems.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively and deliver accurately under strict deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a strong control and process-improvement mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Willingness to work alternative shift patterns of 7:00am–3:00pm one week per month and 9:30am–7:00pm.
