Job Description:

Position Summary

The Engineer I – Foundry (Wafer Foundry Management) role develops early-career talent to support Microchip’s foundry strategy, supplier competitiveness, cost management, and supply resiliency.

This position translates pricing, contract terms, market data, and Business Unit needs into insights that support supplier negotiations and leadership decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Governance and Contract Readiness

  • Maintain agreements, NDAs, renewals, and negotiation records.
  • Track milestones, pricing updates, terms, and supplier commitments.
  • Coordinate Legal and cross-functional reviews.
  • Prepare negotiation packages with terms, benchmarks, and decision points.

Cost Management and Negotiation Support

  • Analyze wafer, mask, and NRE costs for sourcing and negotiations.
  • Provide cost guidance for planning, margins, and platform decisions.
  • Evaluate supplier pricing and identify cost or leverage opportunities.
  • Support price reviews with trend analysis and negotiation materials.
  • Track special pricing, rebates, and negotiated value.

Business Unit and Technology Roadmap Support

  • Support cost estimates, platform evaluations, streamout pricing, resiliency, and sourcing options.
  • Support RFI/RFQ activities for new technologies and suppliers.

Executive Reporting and Decision Support

  • Generate price trend reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain pricing scorecards for management visibility.
  • Support mask spend forecasting and budget planning.
  • Track savings and value creation from negotiations and sourcing initiatives.

Supply Resiliency and Risk Management

  • Assess supply resiliency across key technologies, suppliers, and dependencies.
  • Support risk mitigation to improve supply continuity.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Education and Foundation

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an MBA.
  • 0-2.5 years of professional experience.

Technical and Analytical Capability

  • Foundational understanding of semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Basic understanding of supply chain, sourcing, and supplier operations.
  • Strong quantitative and business insight skills.
  • Excel proficiency for financial modeling and cost analysis.
  • Tableau experience is a plus.

Business Judgment and Commercial Orientation

  • Interest in negotiations, supplier strategy, sourcing, and business operations.
  • Ability to interpret pricing data and frame business implications.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, and follow-through.

Communication

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
