As a social media intern, you’ll support the Marketing and Communications team by creating compelling multimedia content for the Moody College Departments and Schools on our social media channels. You will help lead projects that highlight the departments and schools and impact student engagement.
General Notes:
This is a great opportunity to build your social media portfolio in a creative, fast-paced environment at a top-tier university.
Purpose:
Collaborate and support Moody College’s social media strategy through branded content, with a focus on content creation for the School of Journalism (@utjschool), Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (@utexasslhs), and the Communication and Leadership Degree (@utexascld).
Responsibilities:
Work with the Communications Specialist to create planned content for social media distribution, following a content calendar.
Receive assignments and direction to create digital assets for social media.
Research, brainstorm and develop content/ideas for our social media platforms and produce them (on and off camera).
Deliver on deadline to maintain social media publishing schedule and content effectiveness and accuracy.
Create short videos and graphics for social media, while writing accompanying copy and captions.
Attend Moody College Department and School events and contribute to event coverage for social media.
Attend weekly social media team meetings and one-on-one check-ins
Required Qualifications:
Current UT Austin student
Familiar with Moody College and must be a rising junior or senior
Knowledgeable of all social media platforms, with a focus on Instagram
Interested in and keeps a pulse on social media trends relevant to our target audience
Excellent written communication skills
Basic knowledge of graphic design and video editing
Experience shooting and editing short videos/reels using software
Self-motivated and problem-solver who knows when to ask for help
Works well with a team and comfortable engaging with new people
Experience creating social media content following brand guidelines
Maintains open communication, respectful conduct, punctuality and adaptability
Preferred Qualifications:
Comfortable with video editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Instagram Edits, or other
Salary Range:
$13/hr
Scheduled Weekly Hours:
15hrs/week
Working Conditions:
Hybrid, with regular office hours expected. In-person hours are essential for a quality internship experience.
