Description
The Senior Valuation Manager supports the Head of Valuation in the delivery of actuarial valuation, financial reporting, forecasting, and business planning activities for GHNW. The role serves as the technical lead for valuation reporting and plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of actuarial analyses and management information.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Valuation and Financial Management
Lead the production and review of actuarial valuation and financial reporting results, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with governance requirements.
Oversee actuarial analyses including Drivers of Earnings (DOE), reserve investigations, experience reviews, and management reporting.
Lead the actuarial support for forecasting, business planning, and financial projections.
Provide insights into financial performance, profitability, and key business drivers to support management decision-making.
Maintain robust actuarial controls, documentation, and reporting processes, while identifying opportunities for automation and operational efficiency.
2. In-Force Business Management
Support monitoring of in-force business performance, including persistency, claims experience, and policyholder behaviour.
Assist in the monitoring and analysis of crediting rates, cap rates, and dividend scales.
Support management actions aimed at improving portfolio performance and policyholder outcomes.
3. Business Support & Advisory
Provide actuarial analysis to support business initiatives, strategic projects, and management decision-making.
Support the assessment of product enhancements, pricing initiatives, reinsurance arrangements, and other business proposals.
4. People Leadership
Coach and develop actuarial team members through regular feedback and technical guidance.
Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
Required Qualifications:
Fellow or near-Fellow of a recognized actuarial organization.
At least 8 years of relevant actuarial experience in life insurance valuation, financial reporting, or related actuarial functions.
Good understanding of IFRS 17 is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across actuarial, finance, and business functions.
Strong technical review capabilities with the ability to guide and develop junior actuaries.
