JPI is seeking a database administrator (DBA) to assist the U.S. Coast Guard with large-scale government-wide database management for pay and personnel programs. The Functional Consultant will be a member of a team providing system upgrades, implementation and deployment, and maintenance to a federal client. The successful candidate will have at least 6 years of experience with a B.A./B.S. degree or 5 years of experience with a master’s degree, supporting database updates, implementations, automation for business process improvement, and interacting with high-level federal clients. Thought leadership, critical thinking, clear written and oral communication skills are a must. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently and in team settings to include close collaboration with program managers and client personnel.

Responsibilities Include
- Assist with day-to-day functions, queries, and data calls.
- Conduct comparative analysis of data output system to ensure accuracy.
- Debug any function errors and provide fixes accordingly.
- Make recommendations for streamlining current and new program processes.
- Maintain database structures and remove redundancies to reduce or eliminate the need for future restructuring due to outside changes as much as possible.
- Maintain and develop user guides for existing databases.
- Maintain all system and database permissions.
- Perform ad hoc queries and VBA code base changes to match any changes from data sources to complete data processing requirements.
- Perform end user reports and systems functions as needed.
- Perform regular error reporting and regular data integrity checks.
- Process backlogged data process items to ensure items are addressed.
- Provide input on risk and issue tracking and mitigation strategies.
- Provide guidance and direction in the fielding of common software of client’s network.
- Test and document performance (time) efficiencies gained over the course of the development process.
Requirements
- BA/BS with 6 years of experience or master’s degree with 5 years of experience
- Active Public Trust Clearance
- Proficiency in the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, One Note, Project, Visio, Teams, PowerBI
- Experience using MS Access, SQL (Jet SQL and TSQL), and VBA programming
- Experience with the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) process
- Experience in Database Architecture
- Comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders both orally and in email.
- Experience building and maintaining a trusting relationship with the client and prioritizing demands.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently.
- Proven ability to support and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven process.
- Ability to work remotely as needed at USCG HQ
Preferred Experience
- Relevant experience in direct support of the US Coast Guard, Government Agencies supporting defense, Homeland Security.
