About the role
At AGL, we're reimagining how homes and businesses connect with energy. As we continue to evolve our data and digital capabilities, we're looking for a Data Reliability Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining the performance, stability, and reliability of our enterprise data platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys a blend of platform operations, continuous improvement, incident management, and hands-on technical delivery.
What you'll be doing
As a Data Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation and ongoing improvement of our cloud-based enterprise data platforms. Working closely with Data Platform Enablement and Data Delivery teams, you'll ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of critical data services that support the business.
Monitoring and managing support queues, triaging and resolving incidents and service requests.
Investigating problems, conducting root cause analysis, and driving preventative improvements.
Raising and executing change requests in line with established processes.
Proactively monitoring the health of data platforms and data pipelines to identify and address issues before they impact users.
Analysing platform performance and KPI metrics and implementing optimisation opportunities.
Supporting release management activities and production deployments.
Performing minor infrastructure maintenance and operational activities across cloud-based data platforms.
Delivering small-scale data engineering initiatives that improve platform stability, reliability, and service outcomes.
Collaborating with stakeholders across Data Platform Enablement and Data Delivery teams to minimise downtime and maintain production environments.
About You
You're a technically capable and customer-focused data professional who enjoys solving complex problems and delivering stable, high-performing data services. You thrive in environments where priorities can shift quickly and are comfortable balancing operational support with continuous improvement initiatives.
You'll bring:
Experience working as a Data Engineer within a modern cloud-based data platform environment.
Strong understanding of cloud data technologies, ideally within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and Databricks
Knowledge of data, analytics, and data platform concepts.
Experience supporting production environments, troubleshooting incidents, and managing service requests.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
The ability to build effective relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
We’d love to see your applications by Wednesday August 12th 2026.
