A Postdoctoral Investigator (PDI) position is available in the Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry (MC&G) Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in Dr. Saito Lab working on analysis of metaproteomic and dissolved metal datasets, including informatic and statistical analyses and manuscript writing.  

Essential Functions & Duties

 Analysis of metaproteomic and metal datasets from basin scale transects. The PDI will undertake analyses from spectra mapping and database construction, metadata organization, protein inference, statistical analysis and visualization using python-based open source tools. Upon completion of data analysis manuscript writing will be conducted using co-coillected environmental datasets for interpretation and prediction.   

Required Experience & Education

  • PhD in Chemistry Oceanography or related field.

  • Experience in proteomics and data analysis 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.

Preferred Experience & Education

  • Experience in metaproteomics, analytical chemistry and informatics preferred

  • Deep knowledge of biogeochemical cycling and ability to conduct interdisciplinary research 

Additional Job Requirements

Salary Range: $68,381-$75,498

The salary range provided for this position reflects the expected minimum and maximum base pay for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions. In addition to base salary, eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
