SUMMARY
The Manager, Clinical Hospice provides oversight of all personnel and patient care services. The Clinical Manager is responsible for monitoring compliance, quality and safe delivery of services by following clinical processes. The company adopts the Nursing scope of practice as outlined by the State for its licensed nursing personnel. Provides backup to the Director of Nursing/Executive Director as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures quality and safe delivery of hospice services for patients throughout their entire length of stay
Provides appropriate level of coaching and support related to hospice care
Collaborates with Medical Director to guide care and ensure compliance
Works to meet/exceed quality indicators for staff qualifications and hospice services
Manages intake collaboration, providing daily direction and balancing referral volume with staffing
Ensures Start of Care compliance and focuses on assigned Outcome Monitors
Implements field quality improvement programs
Participates in on-call rotation and manages the on-call calendar for staff
Handles staffing needs including PTO, call-offs, and productivity reviews
Completes field visits as needed and manages cost efficiency (supplies, overtime, visits per episode)
Works with billing department on authorization requests and exceptions
Maintains positive relationships with referral sources (physicians, hospitals, facilities, families)
Oversees monthly IDG meetings and reviews clinical documentation for compliance
Processes complaints and reports staffing issues to leadership
Maintains active RN license and participates in in-service program development
Demonstrates core values and professional appearance as company representative
Implements agency policies and procedures effectively
May serve as backup Director of Nursing/Executive Director when needed
Performs other duties as assigned
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the day-to-day management of field staff.
Interviewing, hiring, training and termination of department personnel.
Provides consistent coaching and provides challenge and opportunity to direct reports.
Supervises direct reports with consistency and clarity of expectations.
Completes yearly evaluations in an accurate and timely manner.
Performs coaching, counseling and discipline as needed.
Works with direct reports to ensure employee satisfaction and resolution of issues and concerns.
Timecard management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of experience as a RN in hospice
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to problem solve clinical needs
Ability to create positive impressions and communicate with a variety of people
Exemplary communication skills and customer focus
Ability to remain calm, have patience and be accommodating
Compassionate and caring while working with patients
Ability to resolve conflict using conflict management skills
Knowledgeable on nursing best practices and able to make appropriate nursing judgments
Detail-oriented and observant
Ability to resolve tough decision-making situations and provide direction to staff
Ability to prioritize and be timely
Ability to clinically triage the needs of the department to ensure team goals are met timely
Takes advantage of available resources (individuals, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work effectively and efficiently
Applies fact-based knowledge of technical skills and business understanding
Ability to follow directions and work as a team member
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS
Current RN license in the state of employment
