Our Engineering and Sciences (E&S) organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills, innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter. Come be a part of our mission!

We are looking for you to join our team as a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Through the use of Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. Our success is grounded in our ability to embrace change, move quickly and continuously drive innovation. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation.

What You’ll get to Do:

In this role, you will work with Chief Mission Architect and peer MS&A Systems Engineers in collaborative small team environments to conduct research and analysis, develop models and simulations, and develop and implement algorithms.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and continuously update complex Simulink models for inertial navigation systems (INS) to reflect the latest hardware, software, and algorithm changes, ensuring model fidelity and traceability.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of system performance using simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink) to identify potential improvements and verify that all system requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement INS algorithms and integrate them into the Simulink environment, maintaining clear interfaces and version‑controlled libraries.
  • Perform regression testing of updated Simulink models, validate results against flight‑test data, and generate quantitative reports on model accuracy and stability.
  • Analyze simulation data to validate models and algorithms, providing actionable insights into system behavior under a wide range of operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (software, hardware, systems engineering) to embed Simulink models within larger system architectures and support hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) and software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL) testing.
  • Prepare technical documentation, model change logs, and validation reports to communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Stay current with advancements in modeling and simulation technologies (e.g., Simulink 202x, Model‑Based Design, AUTOSAR) and apply best practices to improve existing INS models.
  • Work closely with configuration‑management and version‑control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab) to ensure Simulink model revisions are properly tracked, reviewed, and released.
