Full-Time Dietary Manager
Mission Valley Post Acute is seeking an experienced and dedicated Full-Time Dietary Manager to lead our Dietary Services Department. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service operations, ensuring residents receive safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals that meet their individual dietary needs. Position Summary
The Dietary Manager oversees all aspects of the dietary department, including meal planning, food preparation, food service, budgeting, staffing, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures meals are safe, nutritious, appetizing, and tailored to each resident's individual dietary requirements in accordance with physician orders, approved menus, and state and federal regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct and participate in the preparation and service of meals that are safe, nutritious, and appealing
Ensure meals meet physician orders, approved menus, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences
Maintain food quality, portion control, sanitation, and food safety standards
Manage the dietary department budget, control food costs, and order food and supplies efficiently
Plan and coordinate holiday meals, special events, and resident celebrations
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate dietary department staff
Develop employee schedules and adjust staffing to meet operational needs
Process new diet orders and changes while maintaining accurate diet cards and resident dietary records
Conduct nutritional observations, document monthly nutrition notes, and communicate concerns to the Registered Dietitian
Ensure proper food storage, inventory management, and kitchen sanitation in compliance with all regulations
Conduct routine inspections to maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
Collaborate with Nursing, Rehabilitation, Activities, and other departments to enhance resident care and satisfaction
Participate in Quality Assurance (QA), Infection Prevention, and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings
Provide ongoing education and in-service training for dietary staff
Investigate workplace injuries and implement corrective actions and retraining as appropriate
Maintain confidentiality of resident information and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Qualifications
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred or willingness to obtain as required
Minimum of two (2) years of dietary management experience in a skilled nursing, post-acute, long-term care, or healthcare setting preferred
Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and infection control standards
Experience managing departmental budgets, purchasing, and inventory
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and develop staff
Proficiency with electronic documentation and basic computer applications
