Job Description

 

The Milk Technician is responsible for performing duties with the daily operating procedures of the milk bank, which includes processing feeding orders, preparing recipes according to physician orders, proper handling and storing. The technician ensures products are compliant with current codes and are acceptable for use. Requests, inspects, materials and supplies in order to maintain inventory levels and to ensure that standards of quality are met. The technician is responsible for cleaning, stocking and documentation of required documentation logs. This position reports to NICU Clinical Manager.

 

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Full Time, Days, 8:00am-5:00pm

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Reviews and processes feeding orders. Calculates correct amount of milk needed for feedings according to orders. Communicates with physicians, nursing and dietician to clarify any questions that may arise from a milk order. Obtains, maintains milk inventory, utilizing proper storage and handling guidelines.
  • Accurately calculates milk additives based on order. Accurately weighs, measures, and prepares milk. Prepare recipes using precise calculations and sanitation procedures, deliveries milk to each patient room when completed.
  • Fosters a positive working relationship across departments to represent Midland Memorial Hospital’s mission, vision and values.
  • Documents data clearly and accurately. Completes required daily monitoring, cleaning of environment and supplies.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Demonstrated competence in mathematical skills.
  • ServSafe food Safety training upon hire.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to:

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
