Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.
- Receive and interpret coded information via a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, telephone, multi-channel radio.
- Read/interpret maps in order to assist in locating certain geographical areas using an Albuquerque street map, New Mexico State map, city and county maps, and various computer mapping systems; interpret telephone or radio call locations from maps by applying knowledge of various highway systems and geographies in order to provide appropriate and timely assistance.
- Accurately input, update, request and transmit queries information from a variety of sources to maintain current accurate records or to access databases for information, wants and warrant checks, intelligence, and/or driver's license and vehicle registration checks by typing on a computer keyboard.
- Review daily bulletins (i.e. All Points Bulletin (APB) summary, Attempt to Locate(s) (ATLs) by reading bulletin summaries, incident cards, and teletypes in order to remain current on wanted suspects, stolen vehicles, and other officer safely issues.
- Maintain awareness of other activities in the Real Time Crime Center (i.e. 9-1-1-calls, critical incidents, etc.) in order to connect related information and provide additional support should it be necessary by visually and audibly monitoring work environment.
- Maintain security and integrity of all information contained at the Real Time Crime Center.
- Monitor, collect, collate, evaluate and analyze crime data for trends and patterns.
- Communicate effectively with end users.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Appear in court as subpoenaed.
- Review shift's activities at end of shift with relieving operator to ensure accurate exchange of information (i.e., review of status sheets, patrol schedules, notes, etc.)
- Remain current on job specific procedures through attending training courses in order to apply appropriate methodologies.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Perform additional related and essential duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED; and
Four (4) years of experience in any combination of the following areas:
- data analysis
- computer-aided dispatch
- utilization of law enforcement database
- dispatching
- computer-aided research
Experience working in a public safety environment preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, NCIC Certification, within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of National Incident Management System (NIMS) Certification preferred. Successfully pass the National Criminal Intelligence Recourse Center's 28 CFR Part 23 training within six (6) months from date of hire.
Satisfactory complete on-the-job training and pass the Real Time Crime Center Certification exam.
Holidays, evenings, weekends, irregular flexible hours and shift work may be required with possible extension of shift hours at times with short notice
Must pass Drug Test, Hearing Test, Criminal Records check, and Background check.Environmental:
Office environment; exposure to computer screens.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods.
