The Hun School of Princeton has an immediate opening for an experienced and highly engaged HVAC Maintenance Mechanic to join our Facilities Department.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the HVAC Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment across campus. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position that helps ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the School's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Participate in general maintenance activities on all buildings (not limited to a certain zone or building);
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule the work in a manner consistent with efficient standards;
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and order parts and materials for job completion is essential;
- Perform basic preventative maintenance activities to preserve equipment and prevent failure;
- Deliver thorough and efficient services services to students, faculty and staff for heat and air in all buildings on campus;
- Repairing or replacing pumps, filters, valves, controls, sensors, etc.;
- Maintain log books pertaining to HVAC equipment;
- Maintain a clean and orderly mechanical room;
- Ability to periodically work beyond and outside the typical work day and occasionally on weekends in order to meet the needs of the School (includes events, nights, weekends, emergencies, and call backs);
- Flexibility to assist in other areas of the department as needed;
- Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Black Seal, EPA certification preferred;
- Certifications in HVAC, Plumbing preferred;
- Certifications in Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing a plus;
- Experience with VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) Systems a plus;
- Experience with brands such as Aaon, Carrier, Lennox, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Trane;
- Must have a valid driver’s license;
- Minimum of 5 years previous experience required;
- Minimum of a HS diploma;
- Ability to climb a ladder at least 10ft and lift 50lbs;
- A collaborative, trust-based work style;
- Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness;
- Successful completion of various background checks, which includes the State of New Jersey Criminal History Background check and fingerprinting.

Hourly Rate Range: $25.00 to $29.50. The starting salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
