We are seeking a Systems Engineer to generate requirements and provide general support for the development of a virtual crew drill trainer software application that simulates a tactical missile system in a first‑person 3D gaming environment built using Unreal Engine. Responsibilities span the full software system lifecycle, including concept development, requirements generation, verification testing, defect resolution, and software release. This role is well suited for individuals with strong problem‑solving skills and a foundational understanding of software or electromechanical systems. Work will be performed as an individual contributor within a multi‑disciplinary scrum team in an agile development environment and will require interfacing with tactical system Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and adhering to contract deliverable formats and standards.
You will be joining a multidisciplinary team that offers opportunities to learn new skills and gain exposure to the full lifecycle development process—from requirements definition through implementation, testing, and release. This position also provides avenues for growth and increasing levels of responsibility, including exposure to project and program management.
What You Will Do
Research tactical system concepts using schematics, functional block diagrams, system data, parts lists, CAD drawings, and technical manuals.
Generate requirements documents for software engineers to implement training scenarios within existing software applications.
Coordinate with software engineers throughout the implementation process.
Test software in accordance with established requirements documents.
Document, track, and support the resolution of software defects.
Work in a fast-paced environment that requires accuracy and attention to detail.
Travel up to 10% of the time, domestically and internationally, to support customer test events, data collection, and the development of foreign military partnerships.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience
Experience with Microsoft Products
Qualification We Prefer
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environments, supported by academic projects, internships, or research experience.
Strong process discipline and adaptability, with solid organizational skills and the ability to manage workloads to meet deadlines and business objectives.
Familiarity with engineering principles, requirements generation, configuration management, and systems engineering concepts.
Exposure to technical manuals, military procedures, radar systems, modular system architectures, and simulation or video game technology.
Experience or coursework with C++/C#, Unreal Engine, or similar game engines.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
