Overview
Consider joiining the Pennex family as a Cast House Charge Operator in our Wellsville, PA facility. The Cast House Charge Operator coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up and operating the Melt furnace and peripheral equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assures the safety of the entire team and themselves while conducting themselves in a manner where they are setting the example for the rest of the team
- Reads cast schedule and charge boards to determine what needs to be done
- Tracks and works to achieve or exceed cycle time at the melt furnace
- Oversees operation of melting furnace, charging equipment and alloying process
- Recommends adjustments to work procedures to meet safety, production schedules, and best alloying practices
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment usage to increase efficiency of Charging and Furnace Operator
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems
- Communicates all pertinent information to Cast House Foreman and Supervisor
- Confers with Foreman to coordinate activities regarding timing, sequence and any concerns about the furnace operations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education
- High School Dipliam or equivalent is required.
Experience
- 3 or more years of related experience and/or required.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must possess a valid Forklift Operator’s license and have prior forklift experience as well as be able to qualify on the Glama operation
- Must be able to operate overhead crane. Must complete Molten Metal training
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
- Regular attendance required
